Dawson Springs typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Union County proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 70-61 victory over the Dawson Springs Panthers. For the Braves, this counts as revenge for the 56-52 win the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Montgomery Johnston, who went 10-for-18 en route to 25 points along with eight assists and six rebounds. Johnston has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Rex Blue, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 11 boards.

The victory made it two in a row for Union County and bumps their season record up to 11-8. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.5 points over those games. As for Dawson Springs, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 15-13 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Union County won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Hopkins County Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
