Baseball Recap: Port Isabel Comes Up Short

Port Isabel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lopez Lobos. The Tarpons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lobos apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Port Isabel saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Steven Martinez, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. That RBI was Martinez's first of the season.

Port Isabel's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Lopez, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Coincidentally, Port Isabel and Lopez will both be playing Economedes the next time they take the field. Lopez will host Economedes at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Port Isabel will head out to face them at 9:00 a.m. on Friday.
