Basketball Recap: Venice Comes Up Short

Venice lost against Westchester back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Venice Gondoliers fell 66-55 to the Westchester Comets. While losing is never fun, the Gondoliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 331st, while the Comets are ranked 78th).

Venice's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Westchester, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 14-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Venice will take on Hamilton at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Venice's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven games. Westchester has already played their next match (against Fairfax), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
