Basketball Recap: Floodwood Comes Up Short

Floodwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 42nd straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Mesabi East Giants and fell 105-47. The Polar Bears lost against the Giants in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 67-35 score last time.

Floodwood's loss dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Mesabi East, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-11.

Floodwood didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 78-28 defeat against Mille Lacs co-op [Isle/Onamia] on the 3rd. As for Mesabi East, they will take on International Falls at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Mesabi East has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
