Baseball Recap: Hudson Takes a Loss

Hudson and Pasco squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Hudson had to settle for second. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates. The loss continues a trend for the Cobras in their meetings with the Pirates: they've now lost nine in a row.

Hudson saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli Birren, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Birren is becoming a predictor of the Cobras' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 6-14 when he doesn't). Justyce Cardarello was another, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Hudson's defeat dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Pasco, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

Hudson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pasco, they will square off against Weeki Wachee at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hornets' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Pirates' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
