Baseball Recap: Wellsboro Wins Going Away Against Wyalusing Valley

Wellsboro got themselves on the board against Wyalusing Valley on Friday, but Wyalusing Valley never followed suit. They blew past the Rams 16-0. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by ten runs or more this season.

Gabe Sprouse made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Wellsboro is 4-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 4-6 otherwise. Sprouse was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Wellsboro got a big performance out of Cameron Owlett, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most runs Owlett has posted since back in March. Dustin Owlett was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Wellsboro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .760. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Wellsboro has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Wyalusing Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

Wellsboro will head out to face off against Shikellamy at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Wyalusing Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Canton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
