Baseball Recap: Grafton's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

Grafton dropped their record down to 13-7 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nicolet Knights. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Black Hawks' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Grafton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Will Heinz, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for Nicolet, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-11. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

On Nicolet's side, Jack Stuck made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over 6.2 innings pitched. Stuck also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Nicolet is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-9 otherwise. Stuck was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Grafton will face off against rival West Bend West at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Nicolet is set to challenge their familiar foe Cedarburg at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
