The Daviess County Panthers are taking a road trip to face off against the Breckinridge County Fighting Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Daviess County barely beat Ohio County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Daviess County's pitchers stepped up to hand Ohio County an 11-0 shutout on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Panthers have posted against the Eagles since April 13, 2017.

The team relied heavily on Brody Brubaker, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lucas Ward, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Daviess County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ohio County only posted a batting average of .000.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Breckinridge County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Edmonson County with a sharp 10-0 win on Thursday. Considering the Fighting Tigers have won three games by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Harper Lucas and Leland Board made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Lucas tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Board didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. At bat, Lucas scored two runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Board went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jonah Miller was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Henry, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Breckinridge County's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 12 runs. As for Daviess County, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Daviess County skirted past Breckinridge County 4-3 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Will Daviess County repeat their success, or does Breckinridge County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
