Volleyball Recap: Channel Islands Comes Up Short

Channel Islands managed to slip by Carpinteria the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Raiders came up short against the Warriors on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The Raiders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 3-2.

Channel Islands was not able to win a set, but it sure wasn't from a lack of trying: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 26-24, 25-22.

Brandon Romero paced Channel Islands' offense, picking up six kills. Romero got some help from Daniel Miranda and his 12 assists. Riley Luna controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

This is the second loss in a row for Channel Islands and nudges their season record down to 6-5. As for Carpinteria, their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 10-11.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Channel Islands will host Fillmore at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Carpinteria, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Hueneme at 6:30 p.m. The Warriors are facing the Vikings at the right time seeing as the Vikings are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
