Basketball Recap: Nathan Nelson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Center over Oakmont

Center lost against Oakmont back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Center Cougars took a hard 69-54 fall against the Oakmont Vikings. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nathan Nelson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Nelson a new career-high in steals (three). Andy McLear was another key player, putting up 12 points and five boards.

Leading Oakmont to victory were Aldin Bubic and Jayden Rodrigues. Bubic dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds, while Rodrigues went 7 for 15 en route to 17 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Daiveon Parker, who posted ten points.

Center's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Oakmont, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-10.

Center didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-58 loss against Colfax on the 17th. Oakmont has also already played their next matchup, a 70-60 victory against Bear River on the 17th.
