Preview: University Prep Griffins vs. Greece Athena Trojans
University Prep has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Greece Athena Trojans at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday. University Prep has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Even though Franklin scored an imposing 86 points on Tuesday, University Prep still came out on top. University Prep walked away with a 94-86 victory over Franklin.
University Prep's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jermelle Cotton, who scored 25 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cotton has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Alex Webb, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Greece Athena put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Eastridge as Greece Athena made off with a 78-58 victory. Greece Athena has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 20 points or more this season.
University Prep now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Greece Athena, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-0.
University Prep came up short against Greece Athena when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 70-58. Can University Prep avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
