Softball Recap: Oakwood Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Oakwood came out on top against Archbishop Alter on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. The Lumberjacks walked away with a 5-2 win over the Knights. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Lumberjacks as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Ava Crawford was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases.

In other batting news, Oakwood let Reed Archdeacon and Carmen Dinkler run wild. Archdeacon went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Dinkler went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Dinkler a new career-high.

Oakwood's record now sits at 6-15. As for Archbishop Alter, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season.

Oakwood will have a chance to go back-to-back against Archbishop Alter: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
