Softball Game Preview: Santa Clara Bruins vs. Silver Creek Raiders

The Santa Clara Bruins will square off against the Silver Creek Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Santa Clara has four straight wins, Silver Creek has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Santa Clara barely beat Monta Vista the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bruins were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Matadors on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Bruins, who have now won four contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Jasmine (Jazzy) Ramirez, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Chloe Boyes was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Santa Clara always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .719. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Silver Creek lost 13-1 to Christopher on Wednesday. The match marked the Raiders' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Santa Clara's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Silver Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.

Santa Clara came out on top in a nail-biter against Silver Creek in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 11-10. Will the Bruins repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
