Basketball Game Preview: Tri-Village Patriots vs. Belmont Bison

The Tri-Village Patriots just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Belmont Bison at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Tri-Village's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Tri-Village is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Ansonia: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Tri-Village blew Ansonia out of the water with an 84-26 final score. The Patriots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 27 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Belmont came up short against Franklin Monroe on Saturday and fell 42-33. While losing is never fun, the Bison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 705th, while the Jets are ranked 155th).

Tri-Village will need focus on slowing down Jason Maddickes, one of several Belmont players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 12 points and three steals. Maddickes has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dayvion Porter, who earned eight points.

Tri-Village pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 48.8 points. As for Belmont, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.
