Basketball Recap: Weldon Valley Takes a Loss

Weldon Valley had lost four straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 1-2 to make it five. They were outmatched by the Caliche Buffaloes and fell 71-39. The Warriors were down 51-28 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

August Filter and Zander Braun certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Filter posted 15 points, while Braun scored 19 points. The contest was Filter's sixth in a row with at least 15 points.

As for Caliche, they now have a winning record of 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for they.

Caliche found their leader in sophomore Mason Hernandez, who dropped a double-double with 24 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Amman Adolf, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 10 points and seven boards.

Weldon Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-39 win against Kit Carson on the 11th. As for Caliche, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 71-44 victory against Front Range Baptist on the 12th.
