Laney moved up to 59 from 86 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 4A/3A Conference 17. The Buccaneers climbed the ranks as a result of beating Clinton 28-0.
New Hanover was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fourth in the league. The Wildcats vanquished Hunt 36-13 earlier in the week.
Laney's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Tariq Lane threw for 131 yards and Jared Kelly had 72 yards receiving. On the ground Jeavonne Batts contributed 171 yards.

Thanks to the talents of Lane and Batts, Laney has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Lane leads the league in passing with 290 yards, while Batts has rushed for 252 yards this season. The Vikings' Randall Emerson leads the league in receiving yards with 167 on 8 catches.
South Brunswick fell to Southern 62-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
