Volleyball Recap: Centennial Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Hurley Harroun and Meg Hoffschneider

It looked like the Kentucky Derby when Centennial challenged Sutton on Thursday. The Broncos lost 3-0 to the Mustangs. The Broncos were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

While Centennial was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-16, 25-18.

Centennial's loss came despite strong showings from Meg Hoffschneider and Hurley Harroun. Hoffschneider had 11 digs and two aces, while Harroun had seven digs. Those aces marked the first that Hoffschneider has served this season.

Kyla Griess was nothing short of spectacular for Sutton: she had 20 digs and two aces. Griess is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least ten every time she's taken the court this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Centennial and nudges their season record down to 2-7. As for Sutton, they pushed their record up to 10-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Coming up, Centennial will face off against Adams Central at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday. As for Sutton, they will head out to take on Fillmore Central at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
