Cairo-Durham had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 5-7 to make it four. They came up short against the Taconic Hills Titans, falling 13-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Titans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-0 back in April.
Cairo-Durham saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Young, who went 2-for-3 with one triple. That triple was Young's first of the season. Another was Wyatt Cammarata, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
As for Taconic Hills, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The result was nothing new for Taconic Hills, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
On Taconic Hills' side, Tristan Super made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). Super has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Taconic Hills: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Francis Conners-Schmid, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Mulrein, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cairo-Durham will host Catskill at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Taconic Hills, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Germantown at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Titans are facing the Clippers at the right time seeing as the Clippers are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
