Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Phoebus). Everything went their way against the Norcom Greyhounds on Monday as they made off with a 24-4 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Phantoms needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Jacob Moore made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aiden Blunt, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Josiah (Beaux) Moore was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.
Phoebus kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Norcom only managed five hits.
With the victory, Phoebus broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-14. As for Norcom, they dropped their record down to 5-13 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.
