Baseball Game Preview: East Nashville Magnet Eagles vs. Stratford Spartans

East Nashville Magnet has gone 9-1 against Stratford recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. East Nashville Magnet will take on Stratford at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, East Nashville Magnet put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over Antioch. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won three in a row.

Calvin Bibby was a standout: he scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Frederick Bryant was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Stratford put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Glencliff a 20-0 shutout.

Joseph De Dios Lopez made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). De Dios Lopez was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. De Dios Lopez is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Stratford got a massive performance out of Teroz Dowell, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Cohen Cummings, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Stratford's record is now 3-0. As for East Nashville Magnet, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

East Nashville Magnet took their win against Stratford in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 24-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for East Nashville Magnet since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
