League recap: Siegrist breaks off league-leading run for Hudson

5A District 6 recap Oct. 9, 2012

Hudson's Noah Siegrist recorded the longest rushing play in 5A District 6 this season in his game against Fivay last week. Siegrist's team lost to the Falcons as he sprinted for 72 yards on the play and finished with 116 in all.

Benjamin Chandler and Malik Johns provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Wesley Chapel. The connection was good for 88 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.

Tyler Degen and Davion Sutton gave Fivay a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Degen threw for 141 yards and three touchdowns, while Sutton ran for 244 yards. Teammate Eric Vitale added to the ground attack by rushing for 53 yards.

Johns was the best wideout in the league this week as Pasco topped the Wildcats. Johns racked up four receptions for 146 yards. David Emmanuel helped Pasco's passing attack out by catching three balls for 29 yards.

Fivay's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Falcons feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Degen has thrown for 793 yards and 10 touchdowns this season, while Andrew Meyer has 17 catches for 415 yards. Sutton leads the league in rushing with 799 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Pirates take on Hudson. As it stands, Pasco is in first, while Mark Kantor's team is in fifth.

Anclote was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from eighth to sixth in the league. The Sharks vanquished Ridgewood 41-7 earlier in the week.
