Baseball Recap: Carrollton Cavaliers vs. Valley Lutheran Chargers
Carrollton had lost seven straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 0-13 to make it eight. They lost 12-2 to the Valley Lutheran Chargers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 back in April.
Carrollton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli Simons, who went 2-for-4 with one run.
As for Valley Lutheran, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games.
On Valley Lutheran's side, Trey Flood-Captain was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Flood-Captain has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
