Soccer Game Preview: Mater Dei vs. Lebanon

The Mater Dei Knights will face off against the Lebanon Greyhounds at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mater Dei will be strutting in after a win while Lebanon will be coming in after a loss.

Mater Dei took a four-goal defeat the last time they faced off against Civic Memorial, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Knights never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Saturday. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Mater Dei were the better team in the second half.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Kellan Hubert, who's now up to three this season.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 1-1 at halftime, Lebanon was not quite Carlinville's equal in the second half on Thursday. They fell just short of the Cavaliers by a score of 3-2.

Lebanon's loss dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Mater Dei, their win ended a three-match drought on the road and puts them at 10-7-3.

Mater Dei might still be hurting after the 4-1 defeat they got from Lebanon in their previous matchup last Tuesday. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
