Softball Game Preview: Dickinson Gators vs. Clear Lake Falcons

The Dickinson Gators will take on the Clear Lake Falcons at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Dickinson has given up an average of 6.9 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Dickinson is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Clear Brook 23-12 on Tuesday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 21, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Kolbi Filoteo was a standout: she went 5-for-6 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Barajaz, who scored four runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Dickinson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .553. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Clear Lake, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They won by a run and slipped past Clear Springs 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Falcons have posted since March 4th.

Clear Lake is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Dickinson, their win bumped their record up to 7-18.
