Baseball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Miami Valley Christian Academy's Seventh in Last Nine Outings

Miami Valley Christian Academy won against Purcell Marian last Monday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Lions put the hurt on the St. Bernard-Elmwood Place Titans with a sharp 10-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Luke Autry made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Miami Valley Christian Academy got a massive performance out of James Bowling, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those RBI were Bowling's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Evan Lafferty, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Miami Valley Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for St. Bernard-Elmwood Place, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-4.

Coming up, Miami Valley Christian Academy will take on Mariemont at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Bernard-Elmwood Place, they will challenge Western Hills at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
