Soccer Game Preview: Maumee vs. Wauseon

The Maumee Panthers will square off against the Wauseon Indians at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Wauseon took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Maumee, who comes in off a win.

Maumee's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over Otsego. Maumee haven't had any issues with Otsego recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Miriam Findling was the driving force of Maumee's attack as she scored both of Maumee's goals, bringing her season total up to three goals.

Meanwhile, Wauseon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 9-0 to Bryan. While losing is never fun, Wauseon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 442nd, while Bryan are ranked 123rd).

Wauseon's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Maumee, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2-2 and their overall record up to 3-7-3.

Maumee beat Wauseon 2-0 when the teams last played back in September of 2024. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
