Basketball Recap: Ej Giles Key Part of Team Effort in Falcons Win

Fans were treated to a battle of the Falcons on Friday. Austintown-Fitch walked away with a 72-64 win over Garrett Morgan. The score was all tied up 30-30 at the break, but Austintown-Fitch was the better team in the second half.

Austintown-Fitch got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ej Giles out in front who dropped a double-double with 26 points and 14 boards. Those 14 rebounds gave Giles a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Junie Higgs, who went 7-for-13 to rack up 23 points and five steals.

Austintown-Fitch has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 62.5 points this season. As for Garrett Morgan, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Austintown-Fitch will take on Ursuline at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Garrett Morgan, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on East Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
