Baseball Recap: Firth Has No Trouble Against Challis

Firth had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 19-run drubbing they dealt Challis on Monday. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over the Vikings. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won four in a row.

Teagan Gray made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Firth is undefeated when he allows at most three earned runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Gray was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, Firth let Brycen Andersen and Kamdon Bott run wild. Andersen went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Bott got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Bott a new career-high. Tiago Luna also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Firth kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Firth's record now sits at 5-3. As for Challis, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Coincidentally, Firth and Challis will both be playing North Fremont the next time they take the field. The Cougars will host the Huskies at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Vikings will head out to face them at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
