Mia Villarreal commands the offense for Bloodhounds win

Recap: St. Joseph Academy Bloodhounds vs. St. Anthony Yellowjackets

The St. Joseph Academy Bloodhounds waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with four straight wins but they left with five. They took down St. Anthony 38-24. That result was just more of the same for these two, as St. Joseph Academy also won the last time the pair played back in January.

St. Joseph Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mia Villarreal out in front who scored 14 points along with two steals. Regina Tovar was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds and three steals.

St. Joseph Academy is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season. As for St. Anthony, their loss dropped their record down to 15-14.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Joseph Academy will take on TMI-Episcopal at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for TMI-Episcopal: they have been struggling with eight straight losses at home, while St. Joseph Academy has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road. As for St. Anthony, they will square off against St. Augustine at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
