Softball Game Preview: Lake Norman Wildcats vs. Alexander Central Cougars

Lake Norman hasn't had much luck against Alexander Central recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Wildcats will host the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Tuesday, Lake Norman had just enough and edged out A.L. Brown 11-10. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Lake Norman got a massive performance out of Evelyn Adams, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Adams a new career-high in RBI (three). Kaylee Harris was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double.

Lake Norman hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 4-2 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Meanwhile, Alexander Central waltzed into their game on Tuesday with 13 straight wins... but they left with 14. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Pioneers a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won 11 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Alexander Central pushed their record up to 17-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Lake Norman, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
