Basketball Recap: Shrine Catholic Takes a Loss

After flying high against Bishop Foley last Friday, Shrine Catholic came back down to earth. The Shrine Catholic Knights lost 65-39 to the Utica Ford Falcons on Monday. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Utica Ford to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aiden Gillich, who made all 5 shots he took for 14 points. Thanks to that strong game, Gillich now owns an excellent 40.9% three-point shooting accuracy. Aaron Johnson Jr was another key player, putting up 12 points and six steals.

Shrine Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Utica Ford, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 10-3.

Shrine Catholic didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-40 defeat against University Liggett on the 29th. As for Utica Ford, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 49-43 loss against Grosse Pointe North on the 29th.
