Basketball Recap: Cornerstone Christian Academy Takes a Loss

If Cornerstone Christian Academy was feeling good fresh off their 66-35 takedown of Grace Christian last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cornerstone Christian Academy Cougars had to suffer through a 74-42 loss at the hands of the Christ the Cornerstone Academy Defenders. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 426th, while the Defenders are ranked 197th).

Despite the loss, Cornerstone Christian Academy had strong showings from Jordan Lemmon, who posted 21 points, and Isaac Tadlock, who put up 13 points.

Will Jackson was his usual excellent self, going 11 of 20 en route to 28 points and five boards for Christ the Cornerstone Academy. That makes it three consecutive games in which Jackson has scored at least a third of Christ the Cornerstone Academy's points. Bryce Haywood was another key player, putting up 13 points and seven rebounds.

Cornerstone Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Christ the Cornerstone Academy, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Christ the Cornerstone Academy is facing Sandhills Classical Christian at the right time seeing as Sandhills Classical Christian is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
