Baseball Recap: Oak Lawn Snags 13th Win in Last 14 Games

While Oak Lawn put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Hancock. The Spartans put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 10-0 win. Considering the Spartans have won 15 contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Oak Lawn got a great performance from Eli Kulpinski as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave Kulpinski a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Peyton Melnik was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Hilger, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Oak Lawn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Oak Lawn has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Hancock, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 14-16.

Looking ahead, Oak Lawn will host Reavis at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Rams will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hancock, they are taking a road trip to take on Farragut at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Admirals have averaged an impressive 9.2 runs per game this season.
