Basketball Recap: Emanuel County Institute Comes Up Short

Emanuel County Institute was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 69-42 defeat at the hands of the Screven County Gamecocks. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 73-64 back in December of 2024.

It was another big night for Rodney Beckworth, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards for Screven County. The dominant performance also gave Beckworth a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was LeVez Roper, who went 8 of 18 en route to 22 points.

Emanuel County Institute's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Screven County, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Emanuel County Institute wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 72-37 defeat against McIntosh County Academy on the 28th. Screven County has also already played their next contest, a 64-59 loss against Bryan County on the 28th.
