Reading and Concord are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2020, but not for long. The Reading Rangers will square off against the Concord Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Reading earned a 47-40 win over Union City.

Aubree Ervans continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 31 points and 11 boards. Those 31 points gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Abby Affholter, who posted six points in addition to eight rebounds and four blocks.
Meanwhile, Concord didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Stockbridge on Thursday, but they still walked away with a 32-27 victory. Given the Yellowjackets' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while the Panthers are ranked 350th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Reading better focus on containing Cieara Barrett and Grace Thorrez as the pair were huge in Concord's win. Barrett had 12 points along with eight boards and four steals, while Thorrez went 6 of 11 on her way to 12 points in addition to eight rebounds and five blocks. Thorrez has been hot for a while, having posted two or more blocks the last nine times she's played.
Concord has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for Reading, their record is now 9-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Reading has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Concord struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.9 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Reading came up short against Concord when the teams last played back in January, falling 47-39. Can Reading avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
