Football Game Preview: Wellborn Panthers vs. Locust Fork Hornets + How To Watch

The Wellborn Panthers will head out on the road to challenge the Locust Fork Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Locust Fork took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Wellborn, who comes in off a win.

Wellborn will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up 12 points back in September, then bounced right back against Ohatchee on Friday. The Panthers enjoyed a cozy 40-22 victory over the Indians.

Meanwhile, Locust Fork was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 36-34 heartbreaker at the hands of Weaver.

Wellborn will have to contain Nicholas Horn as he made an impact in Locust Fork's last game. He rushed for 164 yards while picking up 7.5 yards per carry, and also threw for 122 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Wellborn's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.7 points over those games. As for Locust Fork, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Wellborn and Locust Fork were almost perfectly matched up in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, but Wellborn suffered an agonizing 37-36 defeat. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
