Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Hobart

Hobart had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They blew past the Highland Trojans 9-1. The Brickies have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Trojans, too.

Alex Martin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Martin was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Hobart's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 8-9 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Alexander Mays was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Zach Terek, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Hobart hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive contests.

Hobart's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-9. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Highland, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-11.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Trojans beat Hobart by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday.
