Basketball Recap: Amherst Skates Past Wilcox-Hildreth with Ease

Amherst posted their biggest win since February 16, 2024 on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons 62-30. With the Broncos ahead 37-14 at the half, the match was all but over already.

It was another big night for Gavin Davis, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Carson Riessland, who posted 13 points and seven rebounds.

Amherst smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Wilcox-Hildreth saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kaleb Johnson put up eight points and six boards.

The victory made it two in a row for Amherst and bumps their season record up to 12-4. As for Wilcox-Hildreth, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season.

It'll be an old-fashioned rodeo when the Amherst Broncos face off against the Sumner-Eddyville-Miller Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wilcox-Hildreth, they will venture away from home to face off against Silver Lake at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
