Baseball Recap: Wayne's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Wayne's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. Everything went their way against the Springfield Wildcats as they made off with an 8-2 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Warriors as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Michael Brents tossed a big game, striking out 11 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Peyton Tengesdahl was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That stolen base was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylon Byrd, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Wayne's win bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Springfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8-1.

Coming up, Wayne will welcome Troy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Springfield will be paying especially close attention to the Warriors' game: after the Warriors face off against the Trojans, they'll take on Springfield again at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
