Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bishop Canevin). Everything went their way against Sewickley Academy on Tuesday as Bishop Canevin made off with a 17-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Crusaders in their matchups with Sewickley Academy: they've now won five in a row.

Tyler Maddix made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Maddix was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kellen Andruscik, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Jamin Brock also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Bishop Canevin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .565. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

The victory got Bishop Canevin back to even at 2-2. As for Sewickley Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Bishop Canevin is taking a road trip to challenge Monessen at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Sewickley Academy, they will be playing at home against Western Beaver at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sewickley Academy's pitchers better be ready for this one: Western Beaver has averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
