Softball Game Preview: Dedham Marauders vs. Holliston Panthers

The Dedham Marauders are taking a road trip to square off against the Holliston Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Dedham and five for Holliston.

Dedham lost 9-1 to Westwood on Monday.

Dedham saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nicole Andrews, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Those stolen bases were Andrews' first of the season.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Holliston's offense. They came up short against Norwood on Monday, falling 9-0. The shutout was out of character for the Panthers seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in April.

Dedham's loss dropped their record down to 6-9-1. As for Holliston, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.

Holliston's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Dedham has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Holliston, though, as they've been averaging 12.2 hits. Given Dedham's sizable advantage in that area, the Panthers will need to find a way to close that gap.

Dedham was able to grind out a solid win over Holliston in their previous meeting back in April, winning 9-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Marauders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
