Baseball Game Preview: Alta Loma Braves vs. Los Altos Conquerors

The Alta Loma Braves will take on the Los Altos Conquerors at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

On Wednesday, Alta Loma needed a bit of extra time to put away Los Altos. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Conquerors, sneaking past 5-3. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Braves as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Grant MacCharles made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). He is becoming a predictor of Alta Loma's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 6-15 when he doesn't). MacCharles was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Jake Zandbergen looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Alta Loma is 3-1 when Zandbergen allows two or fewer hits, but 5-15 otherwise.

Los Altos is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-15-1. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only three runs. As for Alta Loma, their victory bumped their record up to 8-16.
