For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last six times Hickory and Nansemond River have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Wednesday. The Hawks' pitchers stepped up to hand the Warriors a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Hawks have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Hickory pushed their record up to 17-2 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Nansemond River, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.

The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Hawks 1.3, the Grizzlies 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
