Football Recap: Golden Sierra Grizzlies vs. Rio Vista Rams

Golden Sierra lost against Rio Vista back in September of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Golden Sierra Grizzlies took a 38-22 bruising from the Rio Vista Rams. The Grizzlies haven't had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Several Grizzlies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Preston Radich, who picked up 82 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 31 yards. Radich got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 58 yards. Gavin Miller was another key back, rushing for 64 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries.

Leading Rio Vista to victory were Daniel Ornelas and Emmett Medders. Ornelas rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, while Medders rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries. That's the most rushing yards Ornelas has posted since back in August.

Golden Sierra now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Rio Vista, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Golden Sierra will be playing in front of their home fans against Woodland Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Woodland Christian will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Golden Sierra surely won't give up without a fight. As for Rio Vista, they will square off against Lindhurst at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Lindhurst's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last four matchups.
