Recap: Eldon Mustangs vs. Southern Boone Eagles
The Eldon Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 52-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Southern Boone. Eldon was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Southern Boone apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Eldon lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sydney Halderman, who scored 11 points along with seven assists and four steals. Halderman has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Zoe Martonfi was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 12 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Eldon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Eldon's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Southern Boone, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-8.
Eldon will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Lebanon at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. Lebanon is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.7 points per game. As for Southern Boone, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Fatima. Fatima is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
