Softball Recap: Southfield Christian Takes a Loss

Southfield Christian dropped their record down to 6-7 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Lutheran Northwest Crusaders, falling 18-8. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly ten runs.

Zoe Scott made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Lucia Reis, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

As for Lutheran Northwest, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 13-8. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by six runs or more this season.

On Lutheran Northwest's side, Fiona Hanes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, Lily Jablonowski was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and three doubles. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Ashley Abele was another key player, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI.

Coming up, Southfield Christian will venture away from home to take on Whitmore Lake at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lutheran Northwest, they will face off against Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
