Basketball Recap: Savio Comes Up Short

Savio played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the John Paul II Guardians, falling 90-64. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (63), the Eagles still had to take the loss.

John Paul II was led to victory by DJ Miller and Breshun Wilson. Miller almost dropped a triple-double with 26 points, 11 assists, and nine steals, while Wilson shot 82% from the field en route to 25 points and six steals. With that strong performance, Miller is now averaging an impressive 8.2 assists per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Taylor, who went 6-for-12 on his way to 14 points.

Savio has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season. As for John Paul II, they pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Savio will take on Travis in a tournament on Thursday. The Eagles will be up against the Rebels' rather soft defense (which has allowed 50.75 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for John Paul II, they will be taking part in a tournament against Eastside Early College at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday.
