Volleyball Game Preview: Providence Catholic Celtics vs. Oak Forest Bengals

The Providence Catholic Celtics will face off against the Oak Forest Bengals at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Providence Catholic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over Southland College Prep.

The 2-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Providence Catholic was: they took both sets by at least 16 points. The final score came out to 25-5, 25-9.

Providence Catholic relied on the efforts of Juju Batshon, who had seven aces and one assist, and Olivia Healy, who had six assists and four aces. Those seven aces gave Batshon a new career-high.

They weren't the only good servers: Providence Catholic was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 17 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 24 consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Oak Forest entered their tilt with Thornton Fractional North on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Meteors by a score of 2-0.

Providence Catholic's win bumped their record up to 30-6. As for Oak Forest, their victory bumped their record up to 10-20.

Providence Catholic skirted past Oak Forest 2-1 in their previous meeting back in August of 2023. Do the Celtics have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bengals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
