Baseball Recap: Eldorado Wins High-Profile Match Against Cleveland

Eldorado faced Cleveland in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Eldorado walked away with a 7-4 victory over Cleveland. That's more bragging rights for the Golden Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Eldorado got a great performance from Cooper Burak as he struck out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave Burak a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Timothy Kamphuis, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Cirillio Martinez was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Eldorado has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. This is the second loss in a row for Cleveland and nudges their season record down to 8-4.

Coming up, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when Eldorado Golden Eagles take on Volcano Vista Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
