Recap: Madeira MUSTANGS/AMAZONS vs. Mariemont Warriors
The Madeira MUSTANGS/AMAZONS lost against the Mariemont Warriors back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Madeira received a tough blow as they fell 59-45 to Mariemont. While losing is never fun, Madeira can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 586th, while Mariemont is ranked 108th).
Several MUSTANGS/AMAZONS players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Carson Shafer, who scored 11 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Manning, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Madeira struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Madeira has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season. As for Mariemont, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
Madeira will head out on the road to challenge Taylor at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Taylor's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Madeira has been banged up by nine consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season. Mariemont will take on Wyoming at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wyoming is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
